The company was founded in 1997, according to Decision No. 725 issued on April 14, 1997 by the People’s Committee of Ba Ria – Vung Tau province with a capacity of 20,000 m3 per day.
On August 29, 1998, Phu My Water Supply Subsidiary of Ba Ria – Vung Tau Water Supply Company (now known as BWACO) was officially established and put into operation. On August 27, 2004, on the basis of equitization, Phu My Water Supply Enterprise was renamed Phu My Water Supply Joint Stock Company, according to Decision No. 6023 of the Provincial People’s Committee Ba Ria Vung Tau issued on August 27, 2004.
On January 1, 2005, the company officially operated as a joint stock company, with an initial charter capital of 24,578,000,000 VND. Three years later, on January 2, 2008, PHUMY WASUCO became a public company. The company’s shares were listed on the Upcom stock exchange with the stock code PMW on July 17, 2019. The initial number of shares registered for trading was 30 million shares. And as of June 15, 2023, the company’s charter capital reached 499,998,320,000 VND.
At the same time, the company has also investing in pipelines in order to meet the increasing demand for clean water. To be specific, PVC pipe line D630 from Chau Duc Water Supply Joint Stock Company – WAS (Chau Duc district) leading to My Xuan area (Phu My town) was completed and put into operation at the end of 2013. The company’s water supply capacity is up to 50,000 m3 per day. In June 2016, the D800 cast iron pipe line from WAS to My Xuan area continued to be completed, ensuring the company’s capacity of 100,000 m3 per day. And by early 2020, the D800 cast iron pipe line from WAS to Phu My 3 Specialized Industrial Park (Phu My Town) was completed, which made the company’s water supply capacity reached 150,000 m3 per day.
Water quality has always been concerned by the company, therefore water treatment technology is always improved. In January 2019, the company completed upgrading and renovating the water treatment system using advanced Dutch technology that does not use chemicals, which makes it environmentally friendly. WAS’s Phu My surface water plant is aslo constantly being invested, upgraded and modernized. By 2021, the plant’s capacity has reached 150,000 m3 per day, and the quality of water will also be improved.
